Milestones!

Sorry for the delay in updates!  I'd rather spend time with Liam than type :0).  Liam is doing so good.  Yesterday He was taken off the ventilator at 1:00 am and put on the CPAP.  Today at 9:00 am he was taken off the CPAP and is breathing all on his own!  The nurse said he was fussing in the morning and pulling on the CPAP machine and as soon as she took it off he was a happy camper.  He was put under the bilirubin light this morning to help with jaundice.  This was expected and part of protocol but is kinda cute because he has little goggles on his eyes.  Another big milestone this morning, Liam got his first meal.  This is much sooner than I anticipated.  He was fed 6 mL's at 8:00 am through a tube down his mouth into his stomach.  At 11:00 am the nurse checked to see if he digested any of it.  It is very common for preemies to take a while to get used to the milk in their tummies.  But, our little Liam digested all of it!  So he got another 6 mL's at 11:00 am.  What a good little guy!

That's AWESOME Jenni! It doesn't surprise me that Liam didn't enjoy CPAP!!! I've been thinking of you 3 often. Everyday is one more closer to getting that HANDSOME little man of your home with Mommy and Daddy!
I know what you mean about spending time with Liam and not updating...but keep us all posted.
Post new pics of him with nothing on his little face! :)

That is awesome that he is breathing on his own already!!! Every bit of progress for them is a step closer to home! I remember when Layla was drinking only 6mL at a time too--before you know it he'll be drinking 6 oz:-). I pray that this time goes quickly for you guys in the hospital so that you can take your little guy home!!
I would really recommend going to some of dinners/classes that they offer for parents in the NICU. It helps pass the time, it's nice to talk to other parents and you'll be thankful once you get home to have all the extra knowledge about babies/preemies that you can!
